Our 130th Anniversary: May 14 was Founder’s Day at Curtis 1000

A Message to All Curtis 1000 Employees from Steve Geiger:

Our 130th year has begun with a bang.
Can you believe it is already May?

In every location our customer service teams are supporting our business solutions consultants and business development managers, who are out there working for and earning new business in this still-tough economy, while our production, mailing and ebusiness teams are delivering solutions that are designed and customized exclusively for the best customers a company could ask for.  Our new Managed Services solution, CurtisOne, is rolling out nationwide and has gained traction already with several large accounts.

Our 2012 plans are flying along.  Our new technology solutions are gaining momentum with our target audiences throughout our markets, with development of our newest solutions well underway.  We have set a very fast pace in Sales, Marketing, Finance and IT.

In short, we are moving toward our goals for the year and our future— all working together better than ever before in our long history.   And this is really saying something, since Curtis built its reputation in the industry, earned the trust of its customers and became the envy of its competition, through the foundation of dedicated people like you!

I am proud of the team we have become—no less caring and committed than those who came before us and retired happy, knowing they had done a great job for the company, their families, their colleagues and themselves.  We are a part of a very proud tradition of innovation and exemplary service, unique in our consultative approach with our customers, inventing and patenting products that became standards in the industry and are used today, known for collaborating with our customers on their needs and objectives instead of simply selling products to them.

All of these factors, plus the skills and knowledge possessed by all of you, make us who we are:  a company that our founder, Henry Russell Curtis, would be astounded and fascinated to encounter today.  We are an organization that has prospered for 130 years, possibly beyond his wildest dreams back in 1882.

Customized Solution Unifies Decentralized Dealer Network

Toolkit enables promotion and cross-selling

Challenge:

A manufacturer of snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles, and all-terrain utility vehicles has turned again to their trusted partner of over a decade, Curtis 1000, for help replacing their fractured, decentralized program with a centralized, branded and structured process. 

The client identified certain
components of their extensive
line for sales growth: parts,
oil, garments, accessories
and services. Eighty
percent of these are sold at
the point of vehicle purchase
by a network of 1500 dealers
who sell multiple brands in
addition to the client’s. Curtis
is tasked with helping the client develop its Dealer to Consumer Direct Marketing Program and the eMarketing solution to support it.

Solution:

Using its Response Element™ platform, Curtis 1000 is customizing this Web-based tool to meet the client’s
requirements for a co-op program that
empowers dealers and protects the
client’s brand. In an ongoing effort
Curtis and the client will develop
marketing messages that dealers can
access and order, control the timing
of, and distribute to their consumers
through a multi-channel approach.
This toolkit enables the dealers to
professionally promote and cross-sell
the client’s products and services to consumers while ensuring brand integrity.

Features Include:

  • Co-branding of client and dealer
  • Predesigned messages and templates
  • Personalization and customization on products, services, pricing, and timing
  • Targeting of message enabling dealer to pinpoint consumer needs and answer with specific messages

Database Key to Engage Growing Target Audience

The Challenge

Iowa State Savings Bank (ISSB) is an employee-owned, full-service bank headquartered in Creston, Iowa, with branches in Corning, Diagonal and Lenox. ISSB enthusiastically serves the personal and business banking needs of south central Iowa.

Their motto is: Be fair. Earn respect. Have fun. Make things better.

An innovative bank, ISSB was looking for a fresh way to stand out in their marketplace. Further, they were seeking to enhance their image by capturing the attention of a wider, tech-savvy customer base while sending their holiday greetings.

Solutions

With the tech-savvy audience in mind, Curtis 1000 Sales Consultant Scott Edwards recommended the bank send a Holiday eGreeting rather than traditional printed cards. While seeing the time-saving value of the idea and the potential cost savings, ISSB had only 400 email addresses in their database and postponed considering a holiday eCard until the following year. The bank related that it was their goal to convert customers from printed-and-mailed statements to eStatements. This would result in a larger and very accurate database that could be utilized for Holiday eGreetings.

Once the eStatement database was achieved, the ISSB team reviewed all of the Holiday eCards on the Curtis 1000 website and chose “Happy Greetings.” A Discovery Call was held with Scott and the Curtis 1000 eBusiness Project Manager to discuss the subject line, logo, drop date, link to home page and other options. With key decisions made, the Iowa State Savings Bank Holiday eCard was prepared to drop to nearly 1,500 bank customers—a firm step in the direction of engaging their targeted and growing audience who preferred eCommunications.

Results

Five hundred ISSB customers, or 33.7%, opened their eGreeting, and many took the time to email their bank, thanking them for the great Holiday eCard.
